Tuition And Fees

Billing and payment are done on a semesterly basis rather than annually. To spread out the financial burden, payments are required at the start of each semester instead of having to pay the entire amount all at once at the beginning of the school year.

Out of concern for the safety and security of both our students and staff, Student Financial Services will no longer accept cash payments. Online payments will take three business days to reach our office. Please verify on your WebAdvisor (after 72 business hours) to ensure payment has been received, and keep a copy of your transaction record.

Tuition and fees are calculated based on the academic program, course load, cohort year, citizenship, room and meal plan selection, and parking if required. These fees (tuition, compulsory fees, registration deposit, meal plan, and residence fees, excluding the residence deposit) are due by the semester deadline date posted. Students’ accounts may be viewed through WebAdvisor. The university does not issue printed bills or statements. If you have questions about a cohort that is not displayed here, please check your WebAdvisor account or contact accquest@uoguelph.ca.

Board Of Governors

The University of Guelph was established by the University of Guelph Act, of 1964, which requires that the university be overseen by a bicameral governance structure consisting of a Board of Governors and a Senate. The Board of Governors is responsible for oversight of the government, conduct, management, and control of the university and its property, revenues, expenditures, business, and related affairs. The Board is also responsible for the appointment of the President and has authority over all areas of university governance not specifically assigned to the Senate by the Act.

The work of the Board is governed by its bylaws and governing documents and managed, in part, through a system of standing committees. From time to time, the board also establishes ad hoc committees and working groups to explore and report on specific questions or issues.

The Act prescribes that there be up to 24 board members. The Board conducts its business through committees that bring recommendations to the full Board at regularly scheduled meetings. Meetings include open sessions, which visitors are welcome to attend, and closed sessions. The Board’s annual term of operation is from July 1 to June 30.

About The Senate

The University of Guelph Senate was established through the University of Guelph Act of 1964 and is responsible for academic programs, regulations, and policies.

Comprised of a membership that is representative of the university community, with both elected and ex-officio members, the responsibilities of the Senate include:

  • electing the Chancellor;
  • to control, regulate and determine the educational policy of the University;
  • to determine the courses of study, standards of admission to the University and continued membership therein, and qualifications for degrees and diplomas;
  • to conduct examinations and appoint examiners;
  • to deal with all matters arising in connection with the awarding of fellowships, scholarships, bursaries, medals, prizes and other awards;
  • to confer the degrees of Bachelor, Master and Doctor and all other degrees and diplomas in all branches of learning that may appropriately be conferred by a University;
  • to confer honorary degrees in any department of learning;
  • to create faculty councils or committees, and committees generally to exercise their powers.

Our Mission

In Student Experience, we cultivate dynamic environments outside the classroom for all students in which they can learn, build community, develop a sense of belonging, explore lived experiences and intersecting identities, deepen their understanding of themselves and each other, and engage in meaningful dialogue.

These environments are created to support students as they work to achieve their goals while navigating experiences of change, transition, development, and learning from the time before they arrive on campus to the time they leave. These environments include programming, community building, skill building, special events, individual and group advising, and leadership development experiences.

We cultivate these environments to provide a safer student experience and hold spaces where students are seen, supported, and can be successful.
