The Fox International Fellowships 2020 – United States

Yale University, United States

Applications are invited for Fully funded Fox International Fellowship 2020 for research stay at Yale UniversityUnited States.

The goal of the Fox International Fellowship is to enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries by promoting international scholarly exchanges and collaborations among the next generation of leaders. To accomplish this goal, the program seeks to identify and nurture those students who are interested in harnessing scholarly knowledge to respond to the world’s most pressing challenges. For these reasons, we especially welcome students enrolled in the social sciences and kindred disciplines in the professional schools.

Yale University jointly pursues these aims with 20 of the world’s leading universities in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. There are more than 600 alumni in the extensive Fox Fellowship network.

Priority areas

The fellowship focuses on such critical fields as:

  • International Relations and Global Affairs, Law, Environmental Policy, Public Health, Social Sciences, Economics, Political Science, Political Theory, Business and Finance, Management, Contemporary History

All Fellows at Yale receive the same award, which is commensurate to the level of funding received by doctoral students in the graduate school.  Awards include:

  • Round-trip travel, accommodations in rental housing provided by the Fox Fellowship and a generous living stipend to cover expenses not already provided for by existing funds that you may have at your disposal
  • The Fellowship will also cover health insurance
  • All fellows are also able to apply for grants from a research travel fund up to U.S.D $2000

Graduate level students pursuing Doctoral or Masters level degrees are eligible. Due to the US visa restrictions, students have to be enrolled in a degree granting program at the partner institution for the duration of the fellowship.

The Fox Fellowship is NOT open to postdoctoral applicants and international student proposing projects in their home country are NOT eligible.

Partner Institutions

Each Fox partner university holds an open annual competition to gather applications, select and nominate their best students to be Fox Fellows to Yale. The Yale Fox Fellowship selection committee makes the final decision based on the following criteria:

●    Quality of research proposal
●    Strength of academic achievement
●    Character and demonstrated leadership potential
●    Demonstrated personal commitment to being a “citizen scholar” ambassador- a scholar conducting academic work with the potential to offer practical solutions to the problems that stand in the way of the world’s peace and prosperity.

Application deadlines are in January/February each year: specific dates will be announced by each Fox partner university. Students accepted as Fox Fellows at Yale will be notified by mid-April. The Fellowship period is ten months, beginning in late August each year and ending on May 31st.
