The University of Stavanger (Universitetet i Stavanger) is a university located in Stavanger, Norway. UiS was established in 2005 when the former Høgskolen i Stavanger (HiS) received university status. It had about 11,000 students and 1,370 administration, faculty, and service staff in 2017. It is organized in three Faculties, including two national centers of expertise and the Museum of Archaeology. The university has a main campus located in the neighborhood of Ullandhaug.

The University of Stavanger is currently the third highest ranked in Norway in terms of research publications per member of scientific staff. The university became a member of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU) in October 2012.

Details

The PhD scholarships position is affiliated with the research project Caring Futures: developing care ethics for technology-mediated care practices (QUALITECH), funded by the HELSEVEL-program with the Norwegian Research Council. This research project aims to develop care ethics in response to the increasing use of, and demand for, technology in care.

Eligibility

To be eligible for PhD Fully Funded Scholarships Position for University of Stavanger Norway, applicants must:

Have a strong academic background and completed a five-year master degree (3+2) within gender studies or related and relevant fields, preferably acquired recently
Both the grade for your master’s thesis and the weighted average grade of your master’s degree must individually be equivalent to or better than a B grade
Have motivation and potential for research within the field
Ability to work independently and in a team, be innovative and creative
Ability to work structured and handle a heavy workload
Having a good command of both oral and written English
