About the role

We have a new opportunity within the Social Sciences Applied to Healthcare Improvement Research (SAPPHIRE) Group, Department of Health Sciences at the University of Leicester for a Lecturer (Teaching and Research) to join the department.

The SAPPHIRE group specializes in the application of social science theory and methods to healthcare research and healthcare improvement. The group has particular expertise in qualitative methods in healthcare research including ethnographic methods; problem definition and intervention development; and process evaluation. SAPPHIRE research focuses on studying patient safety and quality improvement, the overuse of medicine, digital technologies in healthcare, and reproductive health.

SAPPHIRE leads the MRes Applied Health Research, co-leads the MSc Quality and Safety in Healthcare and contributes to behavioral and social sciences teaching on the MBChB course. The post-holder will be expected to make a teaching and leadership contribution to the MSc Quality and Safety in Healthcare, and contribute to qualitative methods teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.About you

You will have completed PhD in Social Sciences, or a subject area relevant to quality and safety in healthcare or healthcare improvement. You will have expertise in qualitative methods. Alongside this, you will have previous experience of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and ambitious and robust future plans for research applications.Additional information
