Lead Operational Cyber Security Officer

The Information Management and Services department is responsible for the full range of IT services of our university.

We are looking for an organizational sensitive lead operational security officer who is able to apply cyber security in all ICT domains, for example applications (including cloud-based applications), management systems, databases, networks, servers, websites, etc. Our new colleague is therefore a generic specialist in the area of cyber security rather than within one specific domain. Beside hands on for all security tasks to keep the university safe, you are also responsible to lead the Operational Security Team (OST) which consists of 4 experienced operational security officers. You will also be responsible to help increasing the security awareness of the ICT department, penetration testing, vulnerability scanning and establishing security recommendations and measures.

Your tasks will consist of:

  • Leading the team and security projects;
  • Identifying threats, anticipating and contributing to the mitigation or prevention of threats;
  • Following developments in this regard and identifying their significance for the university;
  • Establishing policy with reference to technical security and helping to make the choices this policy dictates when it comes to implementation;
  • Development and implementation of security related processes and procedures;
  • Enforcement of the implemented security processes and measures;
  • Compiling security reports, among others for senior management;

Job requirements

  • Minimum education requirement is a Bachelor degree;
  • Proven track record in leading teams and projects in the cyber security domain;
  • Subject matter expert and thought leader in regard of cyber security;
  • CISM, CISSP, SSCP or similar certified;
  • Knowledge and experience with industry standards and frameworks e.g. ISO27001, NIST, CIS;
  • Experience with both agile way of working as well as traditional project management;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in Dutch and English;
  • Eager to learn new things and getting things done mindset;
  • Willing to perform operational tasks and participate in periodical standby services (7×24);
  • Applicants must hold all appropriate permits to work in the EU.
