Applications are invited for the Vidyasirimedhi Institute Scholarships 2024. The Closing date for Vidyasirimedhi Institute Scholarships is 31st January 2024. Students will not be required to pay an application fee. An IELTS score is not required because all coursework is done in English. Scholarships and Support

Students enrolled at VISTEC receive full scholarships and academic support. Students receive a monthly stipend of THB 15,000–20,000 per month and funding to attend international conferences. All Ph.D. students also receive up to one year of research training at leading international laboratories. Students also receive support for tuition fees and research expenses.

Types of Scholarships in VISTEC

1. VISTEC scholarship by PTT and sponsors: The default scholarship is for all VISTEC Ph.D. and Master’s degree students

2. Srimedhi scholarship: The scholarship is for only a Ph.D. Students with outstanding academic performance, English communication, and clear objectives for their overseas research

3. VISTEC-RGJ Ph.D. scholarship: The scholarship is for only Ph.D. students who pass the selection by both VISTEC and RGJ’s committee

VISTEC provides accommodation on campus for students throughout the period of their studies. Weekly transportation to Bangkok is also available. All support is provided without any bond or obligation after graduation. VISTEC and our donors want our alumni to realize their full potential and become global leaders in research and innovation.

Postdoctoral Research

VISTEC offers postdoctoral fellowships to researchers holding Ph.D. degrees. Postdoctoral training provides a basis for early-stage researchers to develop their careers while working with experts. We offer two types of postdoctoral fellowships, one for pursuing challenges in making cutting-edge discoveries and another for undertaking projects in collaboration with the industry. And 3) VISUP/ Startup/ Spin-off, are our steps to be an entrepreneurship, from high-quality research to products that are worth commercializing.

Technology Showcase

• Zeolite catalysts for converting agricultural and silica/alumina wastes into industrial catalysts, it is to transform agricultural wastes and sand into various types of zeolites.
• SUZDEE (Sustainable Zero Waste Digestant for Well-being), can convert food waste completely into biogas and biofertilizer which is much faster than traditional methods.
• Energy Storage Technologies: Li-ion battery, Supercapacitor, Hybrid capacitor. These technologies offer a number of advantages, including high energy density, long lifespan, low maintenance, and environmental friendliness.

Solutions For Society

• CRISPR-based diagnostic technology for infectious diseases is a Thai FDA-approved test kit with CRISPR-based technology that can simultaneously detect 2 target genes in SARS-CoV-2 with high sensitivity and specificity.
• Pandemic Accelerated Human-Machine Collaboration (PACMAN) is an innovative framework designed to revolutionize pulse oximetry in low-resource settings with a low-resource deep learning-based computer vision. This groundbreaking technology enables the precise detection and reading of pulse oximeters, empowering healthcare providers, and improving patient care in resource-constrained environments.

Academic Conferences

VISTEC encourages our research teams to host international and domestic conferences, symposiums, and workshops. Supporting such scientific events provides a platform for sharing, learning, and networking opportunities. International scientific events organized in Thailand enable Thai researchers and students to learn from and interact with global leaders in science, and thus foster a vibrant scientific research atmosphere. It also helps put Thailand on the global scientific map by making global leaders in science aware of the exciting research scene in Thailand and exploring collaboration opportunities. VISTEC places a lot of importance on research that is of practical relevance for industry and society. We actively collaborate with industry and focus especially on programs that benefit society. As part of the Thai community in a non-urban area of Thailand, VISTEC encourages students, researchers, and staff to participate in local activities. We hope that these activities can bring our communities closer together and enable VISTEC members to make new friends. 

Campus

VISTEC is situated at Wanchan Valley, together with the PTT research center and innovation park, in Wangchan district, Rayong. It is located on the same campus as EECi or Eastern Economic Corridor Innovation Center, an innovation hub run by the National Science Technology Development Agency, Thailand. We are about two hours from Bangkok and one hour from Rayong’s main town.

How to Travel to Our Campus

For VISTEC members

We provide vans for our members from VISTEC to Bangkok and Bangkok back to VISTEC:

• VISTEC>>PTTHQ (Friday, 05.00 p.m. at V building)
• PTT>>VISTEC (Sunday, 03.00 p.m. at PTTHQ)

On Saturday, we also provide vans for shopping mall trips in Rayong, and Pattaya, and excursions to discover local attraction areas. Suppose members miss the transportation schedules or would like to travel outside areas. In that case, We support golf carts from VISTEC to surrounding areas.

For those who are not affiliated with VISTEC

If you’re looking to use public transportation, you can take a van or bus from Ekamai public station in Bankgkok to various destinations such as Trad, Klang, or Chantaburi. VISTEC stop is at the PTT gas station, Wangchan Valley. From there, you can easily connect to the Wangchan Valley EV bus at the designated bus stop.

If you’re driving a private vehicle, follow this route: Take Route No. 7 (motorway) and then exit at Ban Beung. Continue on the Ban Beung – Klang Road (344) until you reach the 167-milestone marker. This will lead you to your destination.

Medical Service

On-campus nurses are on call 24 hours. A Samitivej Hospital-operated clinic in Wangchan Valley has doctors for consultation. Wangchan Hospital is about a 20-minute drive away from our campus. Patients can be transferred to hospitals in Rayong or Bangkok for emergencies or more sophisticated medical treatment.  Furthermore, VISTEC provides accident insurance for all students on campus, outside campus, and on overseas trips. 

Donation

VISTEC is deeply grateful for the support from all distinguished donors in both the public and private sectors, including PTT Group, (PTT, GC, PTTEP, Thai Oil, IRPC, GPSC, and OR). Follow-up contributions later came from Kasikorn Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, Bangchak Corporation, Ministry of Energy, and other funding agencies.

VISTEC’s next mission is to be ranked one of the top 50 universities in the world by 2035 (20:50). Thus, the institute requires continued support from current and future donors who share the same vision to drive our nation forward with sustainability.

As part of the Thai government tax exemption campaign, donors are eligible for corporate tax exemption at 200% of the support fund. The institute looks forward to receiving support from all sectors and individuals so the faculty and students can continue striving towards frontier research, cultivating well-versed leaders in science and technology, and contributing to national demands and global challenges.
