  • Available for both domestic and international candidates.
  • The scholarship will provide a stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney’s Research Training Program (RTP) stipend rate (indexed on 1 January each year) $36,529, subject to satisfactory academic performance, as per below duration:
    • up to 1.75 years for a successful full-time MCrim (Research) or LLM (Research) recipient. No extension is possible.
    • up to three years for a successful full-time PhD recipient, with a possible extension of six months.

About the opportunity 

The WA Cooke, Jane Cooke and Alfred Godfrey Scholarship (Primary) is a postgraduate research scholarship available for up to 3 years at the RTP rate of $36,529/per annum.

About you

The suitable candidate will display the following background, skills and experience:

  • have an unconditional offer of admission to study full-time in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Criminology (MCrim) (Research) or Master of Laws (LLM) (Research) within the Sydney Law School
  • be willing to conduct research in the disciplines of law
  • hold at least one of the following degrees in law:
    • an honours degree (first class or second class upper) or equivalent
    • a master’s degree by research
    • a master’s degree by coursework with a High Distinction or Distinction level including a research component equivalent to 25% of one year’s full-time enrolment.

Note: Currently enrolled full-time PhD, MCrim (Research) or LLM (Research) students are also eligible to apply, but preference will be given to commencing applicants.

Academic tuition fees and the Student Services Amenities Fee are not covered by this scholarship for an international recipient.
