About the opportunity 

The School of Electrical and Information Engineering at the University of Sydney is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Level A) or Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level B) to join the School of Electrical and Information Engineering. This role will work closely with our industry partners led by CurbCycle and iQ Renew to research, design, and assess automation solutions for waste sorting applications including the Curby Program. This project is focused on developing an effective automation solution to increase the recycling of soft plastics.

About you

  • a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant area
  • strong track record in robotics, automation and mechanical engineering
  • hands on experience in designing and programming automation/robotics systems
  • a strong research track record and experience in automation/robotics programming and software tools
  • experience in conveyor belt-based automation systems would be beneficial

The successful candidate will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, work effectively in a team, manage resources and prioritise tasks to achieve project outcomes.
